...On August 17th Jane and Nick Healy celebrated their 50th Anniversary at a Mass in the chapel of Saint Joan of Arc on their farm in New Hampshire. Father Richard MacAleer, OMI, a longtime family friend, offered the Mass and blessed the happy couple. A small reception and dinner followed, hosted by the Healy's children—and "the icing on the cake" was a week's vacation on Fire Island, N.Y. , a treat also provided by Nick and Jane's children. While the most important element of the celebration was the Mass offered for the intentions of all of the Healy's friends and family, traditional fun and laughter was a must, too—as shown here as Jane gets ready to cut the cake and the inevitable sharing of it with her spouse of 50 years!

atn-visits2-225Visits...Visits...Visits... Summertime is a great opportunity to catch up with the northern lives of neighbors! In Traverse City, Michigan, Pat and Ken Kleinrichert welcomed vacationing Sharon and Bob Duross (see photo right) and enjoyed dinner in Harbor Springs, MI, just north of T.C. Also visiting the Kleinricherts was the "T.C" group from Del Webb. Shown here at are Scott and Kevin Stinnet, Sidney McManus, Peggy Stinnet, Patti and Ken Kleinrichert and Jeff McManus. atn-visits-225At the beginning of summer here in Ave Maria, Pat Crisman enjoyed a visit from her son, Father Jim Crisman. Father Jim was ordained for the Diocese of Denver in 2001. He has atn-visits3-150served for the past few years as Director of Vocations for the diocese and is an associate at Mother of God Parish there. Pat and Father Jim are shown here enjoying lunch at The Pub.

Author! Author! Hot off the presses is Kevin Stinnet's newly published book, " Legends of Lohrendore –Book 1: The Boy Who Would Be King." It has a classic atn-stinnetbook-200fantasy plot embedded in a tale of adventure and suspense that Kevin relates will be certain to enchant fans of Tolkien's "The Lord of the Rings" and Lewis' "The Chronicles of Narnia." For more information about the series of 3 books and on how to buy this opening saga, go to http://www.thelegendsoflohrendore.com Kevin recently moved from Ave Maria to Traverse City, MI, to pursue a career in community health services. Pictured at left, Kevin and Del Webb friends Sydney and Jeff McManus display Kevin's book with pride and congratulations.

A Proud Mom and Dad...The last weekend of July brought Del Webb's JoEllen and Joe Monahan to New York City where their son, Bob, made final vows as Brother atn-monahan-250Gabriel Emmanuel Monahan with the CFRS (Franciscan Friars of the Renewal) at Our Lady of Good Counsel Roman Catholic Church in Midtown Manhattan. All seven of Brother Gabriel's siblings joined him for this blessed occasion. Among the five Friars making their final vows was an Ave Maria graduate, Brother Pierre Touissant, from Long Island, N.Y. Father Robert Garrity represented AMU at the final vows and celebration. After a trip to Assisi and Rome with his brother, Father Timothy Monahan, and sister, Bridget Monahan, Brother Gabriel joined his parents in Dingle, Ireland, before heading to Comaygua, Honduras, starting his fourth year as a Franciscan missionary. Brother Gabriel graduated from Notre Dame in 2007.

atn-baby1-250New Grandbabies...Nancy and Randy Freeman proudly announced the birth of their fourth granddaughter, Christina Marie Rivera, on July 6. Shown at left, is the whole happy family: Dad, Seth, holding Gabriella, 5; Mom, Christy, holding Christina and surrounded by Mia, 9, and Olivia. 2.

atn-baby-figueroa-100Emma Aurelia Figueroa, who is grandchild #16 for Del Webb's Ame and Carlos Figueroa, was born on July 13 in Tampa to proud parents Renee and Carlos Figueroa, Jr. Emma surely looks comfortable here—and Grandma Ame says: "She has her Mommy's features and her Daddy's dark hair and at already 20 pounds she loves to hang out and fall asleep!"

Honoring a Kentucky Golf Legend...Del Webb member Jo Makley –Panther Run's 2012 and 2013 Nine Hole Golf Champion—proudly writes about her son-in-law, Dave Burnell, and the honors he is posthumously receiving from golf enthusiasts and junior golf charities all over Kentucky. Dave, who passed away in April, was honored at the 33rd Anniversary of the Children's Charity Classic Golf Tournament. He was cited for his lifetime dedication to the mentoring of junior golfers and for his organization and support of events and competitions to instill in kids a lifelong love of the game.

Northern Michigan Ave Maria Founders Club met on August 8 in Traverse City, MI, organized by Del Webb resident Ken Kleinrichert and Margaret Bufda (a highschool classmate of Tom Monaghan). This year about $10,000 was raised to fund a scholarship to Ave Maria University for a northern Michigan student. Tom Monaghan, Kevin Joyce, and Cathy Daily travelled to T.C. for the event. Guest speaker Anna Scharfenberger inspired the 70 guests in attendance with a spiritual reflection on the tragic loss of her son, Jonathan.

atn-birthday2-200atn-birthday1-222Happy Birthday to You!! An imaginative progressive birthday celebration for Del Webb's Joanne Hallenbeck took place in downtown Ave Maria on August 27 when the party had lunch at The Bean and then went on to Scoop's for ice cream. On the "journey," Joanne and friends were serenaded by Bob Wunker and his own rendition of "Happy Birthday." Here, at The Bean, are (from left) Joanne, Mary Ellen Smolinski, Elizabeth Baucom and Nancy Freeman. Onward to Scoop's and Mary Ellen, Joanne and Nancy indulge in dessert!

Shall We Dance?...Celebrating her 80th birthday, Dee Justus was surprised, amazed and delighted with a dance lesson with Tony Dovalani from the very popular "Dancing With the Stars" TV program. Though some would be flustered or at least disconcerted at the very thought of such an opportunity, Dee thoroughly enjoyed her lesson—as these photos show. Dovalani has a dance studio in Stamford, where Dee and her husband, Ray, spend summers. Dee commented, "It was on my bucket list and I had a great time!"
